Ashley McAlarney
Attorney Ashley McAlarney is the founding director of UNC Charlotte Student Legal Services. Ashley began practicing law at a small firm in Fayetteville, North Carolina, focusing on estate planning and administration as well as nonprofit corporation formation. She joined Legal Aid of North Carolina as a staff attorney in 2017 and has a wealth of experience in civil public interest law from her service to low-income and senior North Carolinians at the organization’s Fayetteville, Charlotte, and Concord offices.
Ashley received her J.D. from the University of North Carolina School of Law (‘14). She is a licensed attorney in North Carolina and a member of the NC Bar Association. Ashley was an active member of her law school’s pro bono and public service programs during her time as a student, and she currently serves on the UNC Law Pro Bono Alumni Board.
While earning her B.A. in History and Political Science from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill (‘11), Ashley was a student staff member with the Department of Housing and Residential Education. She is originally from Concord and has volunteered in her community through the Junior League of Charlotte, the Humane Society of Concord and Greater Cabarrus County, and Therapy Dog International.
