SLS will be closed for the student break on Friday, March 29. The office will reopen on Monday, April 1.

How to Schedule Online

*Note: We are excited to share that a second attorney is joining our team as of the Spring 2024 semester. We have updated our appointment scheduling process to help assign cases between the attorneys.

If you are a current or formerly retained client, please contact our office if you would like to schedule a follow up appointment. We strongly encourage clients to use the Clio portal to communicate with SLS confidentially.

Students can request legal consultations online by reading and following the steps below. Please contact our office if you have any questions.

1. Complete Intake Form

You must complete the intake form linked below before you can request an appointment date and time for a legal consultation.

It is important to provide this information before scheduling so that we can screen for conflicts and provide the appropriate scheduling calendar.

2. SLS Reviews Intake Form and Sends Appointment Scheduling Link

Once we have reviewed your submitted intake form, we will contact you if we need additional information. Otherwise, we will email you the scheduling link for the attorney who advises on your type of case so that you can request a date and time that works best for you. You will receive an email once your appointment request is confirmed. If your case involves a conflict of interest, we will explain how we can provide resources and referrals for the matter.

3. Attend Your Appointment

You will receive reminder emails ahead of your scheduled appointment. If you cannot attend your appointment or need to reschedule, please contact our office as soon as possible. Please bring any documents related to your legal issue to the appointment. If you have an upcoming court date, please bring the court paperwork. Documents can be electronic if you'd like to bring your computer or tablet. You may be asked to submit your documents through a secure client portal for review at your appointment depending on their format.

An attorney-client relationship does not exist with our office until you have discussed your case with an attorney and they agree to accept your case for legal advice and/or limited representation by signing a Retainer Agreement.

Current UNC Charlotte Students, Faculty, and Staff can request notary appointments online by reading and following the steps below. If you have questions about this process, please contact the SLS office.

1. Complete Intake Form

You must complete the intake form linked below before you can request a notary appointment time with SLS.

The intake form requires you to upload scans or photos of the document(s) that you need notarized and your valid photo ID.

2. SLS Reviews Intake Form and Sends Appointment Scheduling Link

Once we have reviewed the intake form, we will contact you if we need additional information or if we are unable to complete your notary request. We will email you a scheduling link with available notary appointment times so that you can request the date and time that works best for you. You will receive an email once your appointment request is confirmed.

3. Attend Notary Appointment

Please bring your valid, unexpired photo identification (drivers license, state-issued ID, passport) to your appointment. There is no fee for student, faculty, and staff notary services.

Please bring your document(s) to be notarized and do not sign them before your appointment. You must sign the document(s) in front of the notary. All other fields in the document must be completed before your appointment. Non-attorney notaries cannot provide legal advice about your document or help you complete the fields.

There are additional notaries on campus who may be able to assist you. You may also be able to get your documents notarized at your local bank or a UPS/FedEx store location. You may also be able to utilize an e-notary and can find an e-notary using the NC Secretary of State’s online search tool.
